Europe on a Motorbike
Sitting on my motorbike I feel like to really leave instantly whatever I was on about. So this year I decided to head down to the balkans and up to scandinavia. I started in Vienna, went down to Zagreb, from there to Sarajevo, to Montenegro, to Kosovo, zu North-Makedonia, to Serbia, to Hungary, to Austria, to Czech, to Germany, to the Netherlands, to Belgium back to the Netherlands and Germany, to Denmark, to Sweden, to Norway, back to Sweden, to Finland, to Estonia, to Latvia, to Lithuania to Poland, back to Czech and back to Vienna. Those where my Impressions.
So in Detail: MAY (10days) I originially wanted to go paragliding in good weather in Slowenia. Plans changed and I searched due weather conditions further south aims to go for. So I started with the first day crossing Austria and Slowenia in Zagreb, which was alright, but didn´t get me so much into travel spirit, as on the next day in Bosnia and Sarajevo. It was incredible, how fast the balkans change. In Sarajevos Museums it´s very well documented how hard Bosnia Herzegovina was hit by the Genocide of Srebnevica and how racism comes up in people and transfers friends to enemies. History repeats in itself so fast. Still, if you find the right bar in Sarajevo you find the people who still have tears in theirs eyes if they tell you some stories of the time what I had to figure out how to climb up the next mountain and they used to figure out to get the next water. Cementaries surround the city. It´s a very impressive city to head to. It was beautiful weather and I hiked up to an old castle. After the usual citystuff I met Cas and we decided we will meet again in Montenegro. He went to Srebnevica, I packed my bike and went down to Montenegro, where the road changed to the better as soon as you cross the border. As a biker the Bosnian side was way more funny to ride, people in cars checked mostly of damages to their car as they arrived at the border. In Montenegro Cas gave me a hint to a beautiful spot to camp at and as time was limited, I headed twoards Kosovo and as I had no intention to originally travel far or in rain, I got into several hours of rain without proper gear. So with trashbags I made it to Pristhina, where I met unbelievable nice people and bought a second dry pairs of shoes. After that I went to North Makedonia, to skopje where Monuments are huge. Better have that green card printed, people at the border don´t hessitate to charge you in Kosovo with 10ish in Makedonia with 50 Euros for your motorbike insurance, what you already have as a european registerplate has the green card. Anyway- Serbia had a good load of rain too and I made it up to Belgrad in one piece where food is served with music or the other way around. After that cultureload I went back and was sure I had to take a few more days of in summer.

JULY(5weeks) I headed up to meet Cas again close to Dresden. I crossed Germany with him to end up in Utrecht. I decided to head down to Dinant as I wanted to go to the Ronquiere festival. Belgium was there the first week. After that I headed towards Amsterdam, Denmark and Uppsala, which was a hell of a ride of 2 and a half days. I had visions after that and would not recommend to drive that in almost one piece, but I couldn´t find a decent place to sleep. In Uppsala it was pure batteryfilling program with a lovely friend who´s studying there. After I recognised that parking is to pay in cities in Sweden my naturetrip started to Norway and I crossed the border and found a beautiful spot to camp. The next days I headed to the Trolltunga and hell Norway knows how to control speed and get money out of parking, fuel, fines, via ferratas, cable cars, food, drinks yeah pretty much everything, what made me leave earlier than expected. Nevertheless I saw two elks on the way out, but it was too rainy to take a picture. It was a mother and it´s calf, same as I saw last year in teton national park in US. Back in Sweden I dried my stuff I was wearing and changed to a spare one (even I packed „waterproof“ after a while rain finds it´s ways). I ended up in a shed where I could fish and enjoy. I headed up to the polar circle and further up to all the reindeers there it was. The biggest city of Europe and also home to Santa Claus. Rovaniemi home to northern lights in winter and to an ongoing dusk or dawn. However you turn it, it´s not getting real night. anyway heading down to the ferry to Helsinki, to Tallin, changed the chain and other stuff there, went to a nice hostel and enjoyed the resonable prices again. Further in Riga I even found beer cheaper than in Austria and Wilna I found UZ the bit different place to be. Google yourself, it´s quite something. Later I went to Gdansk and as it was all world war II I went to Kattovice and Ausschwitz too, what made me thinking of how we just don´t learn about history. The size of this is just… I have been to many places, but this was…
So I returned after that crossed Chech got back to Vienna and that´s my story for this time.
